Symbolism
Arms
The feather represents Mr. Kasravi’s regard for the ancient Persian monarchy of the Peacock Throne and, by extension, for his Persian heritage. The maple leaves symbolize his new life and good fortune in Canada, one for the field of commerce and the other for his philanthropic and volunteer activities. The border symbolizes both the strong foundations for the prosperity Mr. Kasravi created and, through the gold discs, the diversity of his business, civic welfare and cultural interests.
Crest
The trillium crown makes reference to Mr. Kasravi’s adopted province, Ontario, the site of his business and philanthropic activities. The lion is a representation of Mr. Kasravi’s dynamism. The wings highlight the idea of striving and achievement. The peacock feather emphasizes the central reference of the shield.
Motto
Meaning “Politeness, Humility, Loyalty, Charity, Humour”, the motto is in Farsi, Mr. Kasravi’s first language.
Flag
The symbolism of this emblem is found in other element(s) of this record.
Badge
The badge repeats the main symbols of the Arms, with the addition of the eucalyptus leaves, which honour the entrepreneurial spirit of Mr. Kasravi’s grandfather who owned an eucalyptus plantation near Tehran.
