Purpure a griffin rampant holding with the dexter forepaw a sword and with the sinister forepaw scales of justice all Argent;

An open book proper bound Purpure displaying on the dexter page an escutcheon of the arms of the University of British Columbia;
Motto
FIAT JUSTITIA RUAT COELUM. This Latin phrase means "Let justice be done though the heavens fall".
