Symbolism
Arms
The pillar symbolizes Mr. Kennair’s academic interests and personal accomplishments in solving problems that face Canadians. The snake represents fortitude and wisdom, which are virtues he values. The acorns signify antiquity and his English heritage, and the bees signify industriousness and his time in France. The cinquefoil, for Mr. Kennair, represents hope.
Crest
The bear is Mr. Kennair’s favourite animal and alludes to his courageous and strong character. The open book represents his academic accomplishments and interests.
Motto
This means “Strength, wisdom, hope.”
