Crest
The raven, for Archdeacon Simonton, expresses the sentiment of the finiteness of life. This perception was inspired during a walk in a winter wood after a heavy fall of snow, when the deep silence was broken by the call of a solitary raven.
Motto
This Latin motto, meaning “Remember, man, that thou art dust,” is inspired by Genesis 3, verse 19 from the Vulgate, and expresses the sentiment of the finiteness of life.
