The badge is based on the star of the Order of the Garter, which is used as the cap star of the Coldstream Guards, an allied regiment whose uniform, with minor differences, is worn by the Governor General’s Foot Guards. “CIVITAS ET PRINCEPS CURA NOSTRA” is the motto of the regiment.
