Symbolism
Badge
The Royal Crown alludes to service to the Crown. The maple leaf is for Canada. The torch symbolizes training, education and parole. The key represents the service’s custodial responsibilities. The key also signifies the unlocking of a closed door, representing the conclusion of the offender’s sentence.
Motto
This Latin sentence means “To accept the future” or more poetically “To grasp the future”.
Flag
The flag contains in the upper left corner the National Flag of Canada to indicate the service’s jurisdiction as a branch of the federal government.
