The blue, yellow (heraldic gold), and red colours represent Mr. Kucher’s ancestry: blue and yellow are the national colours of Ukraine, and yellow and red figure in the Royal Arms of Scotland. Red and blue are the colours of Mr. Kucher’s personal tartan, registered in the Scottish Register of Tartans. The central figure recalls a key, and thus honours the members of the Kucher family, including Mr. Kucher himself, who have worked for the Correctional Service of Canada and in other posts concerned with the administration of justice. It also symbolizes the Drumheller area of Alberta, Mr. Kucher’s lifelong home, the nebuly pattern representing hoodoos, a distinctive geological feature in the Badlands region, against the blue sky above and reflected in the Red Deer River below.
Crest
The mouse is a symbol of cleverness and curiosity. It is also a pun on a computer mouse, representing Mr. Kucher’s computer service business. The key symbolizes access to information and the use of technology as a means of achieving one’s goals, as well as Mr. Kucher’s employment with the Correctional Service of Canada.
Motto
Meaning “Integrity is the key of excellence”.
