Symbolism

Arms

For Mr. Gignac, red symbolizes his love for others and, by extension, the ideals of chivalry and his involvement with the Knights of Columbus. Yellow is his favourite colour. The cross illustrates his involvement in his church and his community, as well as his many years of service with the Canadian National Railway Company. The yellow roses, his favourite flowers, represent hope. The torch is a symbol of wisdom and learning, a reminder of Mr. Gignac’s career as a teacher and a writer.

Crest

The St. Bernard is the animal with which Mr. Gignac identifies most because of its loyalty, fidelity and obedience. The piano represents his passion for music and the fact that he plays that instrument.

Motto

Meaning “To love, to pray, to sing”.
