Flag

The colours of the flag of French grey and dark blue were inherited from the early dress regulations of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals that are accredited to Major Wallace Bruce Carruthers, founder of the corps.

Badge

The figure of Mercury symbolizes swift communication, since Mercury was a messenger of the Roman gods. The lightning flashes allude to electronics. These symbols were used by the branch’s predecessor units: Mercury by the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals; and the flashes, or sparks, by the former Royal Canadian Air Force Telecommunications Branch and the Royal Canadian Navy Communicators.

Meaning “Swift, skilled, alert”.
