The shape of the badges suggests a doorway, welcoming new citizens to the country. The use of black and red represents the judicial vesture of Citizenship Judges. The balance, or scales of justice, represents the judges’ role in assessing and judging citizenship applications. The maple seeds allude to the potential of new citizens to grow and flourish as Canadians.
