Symbolism

Arms

The bridge refers to the name Punch, which was originally the French surname of Pons, the Latin word for “bridge”. The water base symbolizes the ocean, and the two crosses represent the continents of Europe and America as well as the family’s Christian faith.

Crest

The corbie figures in family lore as representing intelligence, survival and cooperation. The cross repeats the symbolism from the arms.

Motto

This Latin phrase means “The lineage of Pons survives yet.”
