Symbolism
Arms
The shield uses the blue, white, red and yellow of the Acadian flag. A symbol of medicine, the rod of Aesculapius represents Dr. Robichaud’s profession. The red flanks are reminiscent of kidneys, a reference to Dr. Robichaud’s medical specialty as a nephrologist. The mullein is a medicinal plant indexed by Louis Hébert, the first apothecary in Acadia, in his herbarium and known for its benefits to the respiratory system. It also symbolizes Dr. Robichaud’s passion for gardening.
Crest
The cat, a Cornish Rex, represents Dr. Robichaud’s cat. The balance alludes to her husband’s profession. The crown of fleurs-de-lis and maple leaves refers to France, the land of her ancestors, and Canada. The anchor is taken from the crest of the Association des Robichaud.
Motto
This Latin phrase means “To do what is good and do it well”.
