Symbolism
Arms
The arched line evokes the undulating topography of the region near Nicola Lake, the site of the Guichon family ranch. The bluebunch wheatgrass is an important plant for foraging by the livestock. The four roots represent Her Honour’s children.
Crest
The grouse expresses the joy that Her Honour finds in biodiversity.
Supporters
The horse and steer, with the brands appropriate to them, represent the livestock of the family ranch and the reaping of the benefits of sunshine. The burrowing owl lives in harmony with the cattle and represents the ongoing effort to learn about and respect biodiversity.
Motto
These three words represent Her Honour’s fundamental belief that healthy relationships between people and with the land that supports and nurtures us must underpin our actions in respectful and responsible ways.
