Symbolism
Badge
White and red are the colours of Canada. The six segments and their position represent the three territories (Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut) and the three provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) served by the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Northwest). In First Nations mythology, the raven is a guardian of knowledge and a cunning creature, thus symbolizing that the unit focuses on youth development and leadership. As a shapeshifter, it also alludes to the transition from childhood to adulthood that the cadets go through during their training. The key is a symbol of knowledge.
Motto
This Latin phrase means “A support for future leaders”.
