Symbolism

Badge

The badge format follows a typical structure related to law enforcement, with the Royal Crown honouring the important role of peace officers serving the Sovereign. The fourteen maple leaves represent the federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions of membership. The black annulus alludes to a mourning band. The forget-me-not is a flower of remembrance. Burgundy and gold are the emblematic colours of the Association. They symbolize the shedding of their blood by those who have died in the line of duty, and the honouring of these sacrifices. The white drops symbolize the purity of purpose of the Association, to honour those fallen officers. Each drop represents a tear as well as alluding to the marking of a memorial stone in a cemetery. The five drops represent the five organizations from which members of the Association are drawn.

Motto

This Latin phrase, meaning “Steadfast in adversity”, is a recognition that peace officers stand together in times of sorrow.

Flag

The blue facing colour is often associated with peace officers.
