Symbolism

Arms

The shield is divided in four diagonal quarters. For Ms. Atkinson, the reverse triangle in the upper quarter is a symbol of both mother and woman, and the one in the lower quarter refers to the symbol for fire. The blue of the cross symbolizes the water of Pisces, her birth sign.

Crest

The wolf, with its strong sense of family, is an animal to which Ms. Atkinson identifies. In some Native American cultures, March, her birth month, is symbolized by the wolf. The moon is an allusion to her first name, as Diana was the goddess of the moon and hunting.

Motto

The motto alludes to the fact that Ms. Atkinson is the sole provider for her two young sons.

Flag

Badge

The red triangle repeats the symbolism of mother and woman. The snake and the triangle resting upon a white poppy complete the three basic geometric shapes: circle, triangle and square. The snake is symbolic of knowledge, cunning and change, as expressed in Celtic mythology. Its green colour is a reference to the colour of Ms. Atkinson’s eyes.
