Symbolism
Badge
The design evokes the arms of Nova Scotia. The wine barrel indicates that this award recognizes the best wine in the province. The lion’s head symbolizes the role of the Lieutenant-Governor in the award program. The purple discs evoke bubbles, Nova Scotia being known for its sparkling wines, but also grapes and the variety of fruit wines produced in the province. The coronet is composed of the provincial emblem, the mayflower, while the thistle is taken from the crest of the province.
