Symbolism

Arms

Blue and white are the colours of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). The main figure on the shield is modelled on the SPVM’s star-like emblem, which has been used on uniforms and other items since the 1970s. The crenellated border symbolizes the city territory and the protection of its citizens.

Crest

The fleurs-de-lis are emblematic of the province of Quebec, and the maple leaves represent Canada. The tower is a symbol of protection and refuge. It also represents a gathering place.

Supporters

The beavers represent work and determination. These animals, and the flowers that make up their collars, are taken from the City of Montréal’s Coat of Arms and recall the links between the police service and the city.

Motto

This phrase means "Respect, integrity, commitment".
