Symbolism

Arms

The chevrons represent the mountains of British Columbia, Ms. Kains’ province of residence. They form an interlaced pattern referring to her blended family, to her career in telecommunications and also to her interest in the interconnectedness of local and global issues. The droplets evoke both the sea near her place of residence and her three children.

Crest

The dove represents the Holy Spirit and Ms. Kains’ faith. The columbine flowers evoke her three children and the Christian virtues of faith, hope and charity. The maple leaf coronet symbolizes service to Canada.

Motto

This phrase embodies Ms. Kains’ positive outlook in all her endeavours.
