Symbolism

Arms

The arrangement of the shield emulates that of Jacques G. Le Bel, Ms. Lavoie’s husband. For her, the blue colour represents fidelity and perseverance in action. The fleur-de-lis pay homage to her French ancestors. The white roses, symbols of purity, embody the spirit of volunteer work, which is accomplished through love, detachment, and dignity.

Crest

The griffin, used here as a symbol of force and the power to overcome obstacles, represents Ms. Lavoie’s faithful desire to serve Canada. The fleur-de-lis and the maple leaves represent her Quebec and Canadian heritage.

Motto

This Latin phrase meaning “Love conquers all” expresses the devotion with which Ms. Lavoie undertakes her volunteer activities.
