Symbolism

Badge

Blue and white are the colours of The Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. The tree-lined river motif is taken from the badge of the 763 Communication Regiment (Ottawa), from which the 33 Signal Regiment draws its lineage. The trees represent the Ottawa Valley and its surroundings, which developed in large part due to the lumber industry. The waves allude to the three rivers of the region: the Ottawa, Gatineau and Rideau rivers. The two crossed signalling flags are one of the earliest symbols of dedicated military communications in Canada. They represent semaphore, an early form of visual communications, and are derived from the uniform collar badge of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals.

Motto

This Anishinaabemowin phrase means “Any time, any place”. The motto is taken from the badge of the 763 Communication Regiment (Ottawa) and honours the Algonquin Nation in Ottawa. It also recognizes the multiplicity of skills of the Regiment and its role and ability to deliver those skills when needed.
