A plate charged with a sinister hand apaumé couped Gules, environed by Tudor roses proper, and ensigned by a coronet erablé Gules;

A standard the hoist Argent a cross Gules the fly per fess Azure and Argent charged with the Crest of Cave (A greyhound courant Sable collared Argent and ensigned by a scroll inscribed GARDEZ), the Crest of Browne (A stork proper beaked and membered Gules gorged with a ducal crown Or) and the Badge, all separated by two bends Gules inscribed with the Motto in letters Argent;


Symbolism

Badge

The hand alludes to the badge of a baronet of the United Kingdom referring to the baronetcy inherited by Mr. Cave-Browne-Cave. The Tudor roses symbolize the Tudor era of the Cave family in England. The coronet of maple leaves represents the Canadian branch of the family.

Motto

This Latin phrase means “Beware, God sees.” The verb in Latin cave, for “Beware”, produces a pun on the surname Cave.

Flag

The cross of St. George is an allusion to England, the country of origin of Mr. Cave-Browne-Cave’s family. The dog and crane crests are those inherited by Mr. Cave-Browne-Cave from the Cave and Browne families respectively.
