Symbolism
Arms
Red and white are the colours of Canada. For Mr. Trask, red also stands for passion and white for purity, strength, and clarity. The pattern of alternating colours symbolizes electronic circuits both with and without current flow, being an allusion to Mr. Trask’s career in the field of computer technology. The octopus represents flexibility.
Crest
The octopus’ arm represents flexibility, and the sword, strength of conviction. The stars symbolize Mr. Trask’s American heritage as well as alluding to the Motto.
Motto
This Latin sentence, meaning “The stars incline us, but do not bind us,” refers to the strength of free will.

Badge
Black represents the unknown, and the tree represents the concept of a probability tree in the field of predictive analytics, its roots indicating assumptions and its twigs the predicted results. The gold star alludes to successful results.
