Symbolism

Arms

The green and blue are taken from the Arms of the diocese of Niagara. The scroll and seals represent the office of Chancellor of the diocese, a position which both Mr. Kemp-Welch and his father filled as lawyers. The Canterbury cross is a symbol of Anglicanism.

Crest

The Catherine wheel symbolizes Mr. Kemp-Welch’s residence in the city of St. Catharines, Ontario. The trillium flowers recall that Mr. Kemp-Welch’s father, Robert S. Kemp-Welch, was the Deputy Premier of Ontario from 1977 to 1985.

Motto

This phrase relates to Mr. Kemp-Welch’s actions as a lawyer serving as the Chancellor of a faith organization.
