Symbolism
Arms
The green signifies prosperity. The gold signifies wealth. The oak tree represents Mr. Woodward’s English heritage. The wood of the tree with the wards of the keys is a canting reference to Mr. Woodward’s surname, which means “forest guardian.” The gold disc represents Mr. Woodward’s profession of wealth management.
Crest
The boar represents strength, tenacity and the natural, untamed aspects of human nature. The crown represents both Mr. Woodward’s support for constitutional monarchy and his acknowledgement of an ultimate authority belonging to the divine. Together, the boar and the crown reflect the principle that human energy and will must be subordinated to higher purpose and righteous governance.
Motto
This phrase expresses one of Mr. Woodward’s hopes for the future.
Flag
The symbolism of this emblem is found in other element(s) of this record.
Badge
The oak leaves repeat the symbolism of the Arms. Their rotational arrangement was designed by Mr. Woodward’s wife, and it expresses the couple’s love for each other. The number of leaves represents three enduring principles: family unity, strength through adversity and generational continuity. It thus honours the support that Mr. Woodward’s wife has provided him through life’s changes and the enduring nature of family bonds across generations.
