Symbolism
Arms
The sword and the crenellated line dividing the shield indicate Mr. Whyte’s role as a police officer in protecting citizens. This is reinforced by the dragon, a fearless creature protective of what it values and a reminder of Mr. Whyte’s duty to guard his community and family. The eagle—a bold and far-sighted bird—symbolizes action and enlightenment, and thus Mr. Whyte’s endeavour to act without hesitation while also making judicious decisions.
Crest
The talbot, a medieval hunting dog traditionally used in heraldry, represents Mr. Whyte’s love of dogs as family pets and also alludes to his love of hunting. The beacon, symbolizing vigilance, indicates Mr. Whyte’s career as a police officer. The cross represents his Christian faith.

Badge
The dragon is taken from the Arms and symbolizes protection. The bows represent three generations of hunters and thus allude to Mr. Whyte’s hopes to pass on to his children his love of hunting, which he inherited from his own father.
