Symbolism
Arms
The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The wavy stripes symbolize the sea and thus the location of Halifax on the Atlantic Ocean. The mural crown is frequently used in heraldry as a symbol of the army. The maple leaves and the crossed swords are likely taken from the Badge of the Canadian Army.
