Symbolism
Arms
The black stag and red chevron are found in arms associated with other Rogers families. The sea-stag symbolizes Mr. Rogers’ service on warships of the Royal Canadian Navy. The Celtic cross alludes to his Christian faith and to his descent from an Irish Rogers family.
Crest
A stag’s head appears in crests of other families named Rogers. The coronet represents Mr. Rogers’ descent from his Loyalist ancestor James Rogers of the King’s Rangers, also known as Rogers’ Rangers after its commander Robert Rogers, James’ brother.
Motto
This Latin phrase, a traditional motto for Rogers families, means "We and ours to God."
