Symbolism

Arms

The white rectangles represent panes of glass, a reference to Mr. Wiebe’s work in the fenestration industry. The cogwheels symbolize industry and thus Mr. Wiebe’s career in business.

Crest

The eagle wings allude to the national symbol of Germany, Russia and Poland, countries from where Mr. Wiebe’s ancestors came. A crest of two aligned wings is characteristic of western and central European heraldry. The stars refer to the Stella Maris, the symbol of Acadia, indicating Mr. Wiebe’s wife’s Acadian heritage. The blue, gold, white and red colours are taken from the flag of Acadia.

Motto

This phrase is taken from Ecclesiastes 9:10: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might,” and expresses Mr. Wiebe’s belief in hard work and determination.

Flag

The symbolism of this emblem is found in other element(s) of this record.

Badge

The red rectangle and cogwheel are taken from the Arms. The glass cutter refers to Mr. Wiebe’s work in the fenestration industry.

Differenced Arms for Jillene Marie Lakevold, child of Gordie Dennis Wiebe

The central stripe is wavy to refer to water and thus to the word “lake” in her surname.

Differenced Arms for Colin Peter Wiebe, child of Gordie Dennis Wiebe

The border is a mark of difference that he will remove when he inherits the Arms.

Differenced Arms for Nicole Yvonne Wiebe, child of Gordie Dennis Wiebe

The border is here a permanent mark of difference.
