Symbolism
Arms
The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The maple leaf alludes to Lady Eaton’s Canadian birthplace, while the shamrock represents her parents’ Irish origins. The horseshoes symbolize Dame Eaton’s love of horses, while the red cross likely alludes to her longstanding involvement with the Canadian Red Cross. The lyre references the McCrea family’s shared interest in music.

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The carpenter’s square possibly refers to the fact that Lady Eaton’s father and one of her brothers were carpenters, while another brother was a famous miniatures woodcarver.
