Symbolism

Arms

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The cross refers to Monsignor Feeney’s calling as a priest. The ring possibly refers to a whole note and, therefore, his work in music education.

Crest

The cross recalls Monsignor Feeney’s vocation as a priest. Its Celtic design alludes to his Irish heritage.

Motto

This Latin phrase means “Through Him, with Him, in Him.” A reference to Christ, it is taken from the Eucharistic doxology at the end of the Canon of the Mass, and thus refers to Monsignor Feeney’s calling as a priest.
