Vert in the fly the Badge, a canton of the National Flag of Canada fimbriated Argent;
Symbolism
Badge
The golden upper section represents a bright sunny sky; the green section, a wooded landscape; and the blue and white wavy section, water. The loon stands for all Canadian wildlife. Together, these elements symbolize respectively air, land, water and wildlife, the four spheres monitored by the Enforcement Branch in its mission to ensure that the laws administered by the Department of the Environment are respected. The maple leaves represent Canada and its provinces and territories, alluding to the geographical scope and the outreach programs of the Branch. The Royal Crown indicates its role in the administration of the law.
Motto
This Latin phrase meaning “To protect, to respect, to conserve” sums up the Enforcement Branch’s mission regarding the environment.
Flag
Green, a colour that is frequently associated with the environment, is found on the uniform worn by the officers of the Enforcement Branch. The National Flag indicates service to Canadians. The emblem in the fly is the Badge of the organization.
