Symbolism
Arms
The red and blue sections symbolize heat and cold respectively. The curled serpent evokes coils associated with heating and cooling, and therefore symbolizes the constant healthy circulation of air and temperature. The two loops of the serpent represent the rings that are symbols of the professions of the engineers and the technologists who are members of the organization.
Crest
The scotch pine cone relates to the extensive territory of the Toronto Branch, extending into Northern Ontario. It also evokes heat and cold, as its scales open when exposed either to the intense heat of a fire or to extreme winter cold.
Supporters
The bees symbolize thermo-regulation as they cool their hive and use heat for protection.
Flag
The symbolism of this emblem is found in other element(s) of this record.
