Symbolism

Arms

The pattern refers to the first initial of Mr. Tracz's name, as well as a T-square, the symbol of a Past Master of a Masonic Lodge. The red and white refer to Canada, the Anglican church, and Mr. Tracz's ancestral origins in Austria. Blue is Mr. Tracz's favourite colour, and the sun is a symbol to which both he and his father have felt an affinity.

Crest

The snowy owl, found in northern Ontario, is a bird Mr. Tracz particularly admires. He has chosen the particular stance to refer to qualities of readiness and willingness to defend its nest. The lightning bolt is a reference both to Mr. Tracz's work as a Certified Engineering Technician in electrical engineering, and to his service with the 736 (Thunder Bay) Communication Squadron of the Canadian Forces.

Motto

A Latin phrase based on the line "To thine own self be true" from Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Badge

The badge combines the sun and the potenty symbols from the arms with the silver "technology ring," symbolic of Mr. Tracz's career as an engineering technologist. In addition, the flames are depicted in such a way as to suggest maple leaves.
