Symbolism

Badge

The orca alludes to the Navy patrol training crafts, which, since the Second World War, have all borne the names of Canadian animals. Known for the strong social bonds it forms, the orca also symbolizes the strength of the relationship formed between the Patrol Craft Training Unit and the military officers it trains. In addition, it evokes the Pacific Ocean, where the unit undertakes its mandate to conduct coastal sea training. The fir tree division line represents the Pacific coast skyline and, therefore, the land, air and coastal training that the unit provides to other units of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Motto

This phrase refers to both the techniques taught by the unit using leadmarks, which are land-based indicators to guide navigation on the sea, and the idea of providing correct and clear training.
