Symbolism
Arms
The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. Green and yellow are the college’s colours, referring to the natural setting of the campus. The chevron with the wavy blue and white stripes represents the bend in the Credit River next to which Erindale College (now the University of Toronto Mississauga) is located. The crenellated border alludes to the architecture of the main building of the campus.
Crest
The oak tree is the crest of the University of Toronto. The tower and waves represent the campus buildings rising above the Credit River.
Motto
This Latin phrase means “So much has been entrusted to us.” The word Creditum is a punning reference to the Credit River.
Badge
The green and yellow repeat the symbolism of the Arms. The blue and white wavy stripes symbolize the Credit River.
