Symbolism
Differenced Arms for Anne Roche-Noël, daughter of John Redmond Roche
The arms are essentially those of the late John Redmond Roche, Mrs Roche-Noël’s father. The roach fish are a small freshwater fish, of the cyprinid family. In these arms, they function as a visual pun on the family name Roche. The fleurs-de-lis are a permanent mark of cadency to distinguish Mrs Roche-Noël’s arms and those of her descendants. They were chosen by her father to honour his French heritage from his mother, Eva de Montigny Gingras. For Mrs Roche-Noël the three fleurs-de-lis are a symbol of the Christian culture and the Trinity.
