Symbolism
Arms
The shield and crest are based on the arms of Mr. Zobrist’s ancestors in Hendschiken, Switzerland. The gold band and maple leaves distinguish these arms as Canadian in reference to Mr. Zobrist’s having immigrated to this country in the 1950s.
Crest
The griffin is made distinct by the red, one of Canada’s official national colours. Its wings are in white in reference to Mr. Zobrist’s career as an engineer with Alcan, a major aluminium company. The maple leaf is another reference to Mr. Zobrist’s Canadian identity.
Motto
This Latin sentence means “With the stars as my supporters, I am determined in purpose”.
