Symbolism

Arms

The blue and gold chequered fess is taken from the arms of the German town of Kreuznach, from where the Langkammerers originated. The maple leaf honours Canada, Mr. Langkammerer’s place of birth. The cog-wheels allude to his career as a machinist at the Esquimalt dockyard.

Crest

The bear holding the bottony cross is a reference to Mr. Langkammerer’s German heritage and Roman Catholic faith, while the cog-wheel repeats a theme of the Arms.

Motto

TO SERVE.
