Symbolism
Arms
The double-headed eagle combines the black eagle of the Irish Glynns with the red eagle associated with the Cornish family as a way of alluding to the history of the family on both sides of the Irish Sea. The band of gold, red and blue represents Mr. Glynn’s service in the RCMP. The two maple leaves symbolize Mr. Glynn’s two children.
Crest
The main part of the crest is derived from the crest traditionally associated with the Irish Glynns. The added maple leaf coronet symbolizes Mr. Glynn’s service to Canada as an RCMP officer. The gold discs represent his work in business administration.
Motto
Meaning “They will soar on wings like eagles”, this Latin sentence is taken from the New International Version of the Bible, Isaiah 40:31.
