Symbolism

Arms

The green and gold are the main colours in the arms of Ontario, Mr. Lougheed's native province. The stags' heads, a traditional Scots heraldic symbol for Malcolm, are a reference to his middle name. The boar's head is a symbol used in Scottish heraldry for Lougheed armigers.

Crest

The eagle is a symbol with great meaning in the Lougheed family. The cogwheel represents Mr. Lougheed's long and active involvement with Rotary International, while the Maltese cross represents his contributions to the Venerable Order of St. John.

Motto

This Latin phrase, which indicates the importance Mr. Lougheed places on serving the community, means "To serve is to live".
