Symbolism

Arms

The colours blue and white are those favoured by Mr. Dickinson-Starkey. The eucalyptus tree symbolizes his roots in Australia, his love of gardening and, as a “tree of life”, his fascination for genealogy and family history studies. The tree and the two koala faces refer to his Australian homeland and to his two brothers, again celebrating the importance of family. The chevron division of the shield is a symbol of the mountains of British Columbia, his adopted home and the scene of his major community contribution.

Crest

The cat is Mr. Dickinson-Starkey’s favourite animal. The coronet of maple and eucalyptus leaves represents his deep interest in and support for the constitutional monarchy in Australia and Canada.
