Symbolism
Arms
The arms are very similar to those granted to Mr. Davies' grandfather, Senator Rupert Davies, in 1940. The printer's inking ball indicates the family's work in newspaper publishing, especially the Kingston Whig-Standard, of which Mr. Davies, like his grandfather, was publisher. The new element is the key, which represents Mr. Davies' business in network encryption.
Crest
The crest is identical to the one granted to Rupert Davies. The dragon marks the family's Welsh ancestry.
Motto
This Welsh phrase means "He who strives will overcome." It was included in the grant to Rupert Davies.
